A Galaxy shattered when dilithium explosions cascade across the galaxy causing cataclysmic destruction. Star travel is impossible. The use of dilithium fueled engines risks more destruction. The concept of "The Burn" is a storyline from the Star Trek Discovery series, when the ship is catapulted into the future more than a century after this event. The story takes place in the distant future, but authors Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing use some familiar faces in their story. Agnes P. Jurati ( from the Picard series) returns as the Borg queen and brings back Captain Kirk from the dead! With the fleet destroyed, the Federation is in shambles and the last chance is a ship from a museum retrofitted with Borg technology. This aptly named last ship of the fleet is the Omega. The fast paced post apocalyptic story that will keep fans turning the pages. It has everything you could expect from Star Trek: action and emotion. The illustrations by Adrián Bonilla capture both with style. this graphic novel combines issues 1-6 of the comic book series. There are 5 more issues out and I can't wait to read the rest of this story.

Anyone who loves anime or manga will adore this cute graphic novel. It may take place in a high school, but you don't have to be a teen to love anime. My kids introduced me to Japanese animation when they were young and I adored this book. When Cherie and Naomi find out that they both love Orange High School Bakery Club, the two bond over their love of manga and anime. When their classmate Miro shows interest in learning about anime the three become fast friends. When the charismatic president of the anime club, takes the freshmen under her wing, crushes and jealousy are the result.
This book is a coming of age story as the protagonists learn to accept their feelings. But the charm of this book is that it is a love letter to anime and manga. There are scenes that lampoon a couple of popular series, Ouran High School Host Club and Death Note. Other popular series are hidden like easter eggs throughout the panels of the pages. Anime and manga fans will have a blast finding them all. But you don't have to know anything about the art forms in order to appreciate the book. At the first meeting of the anime club, the president explains all the different anime genre to newbie member Miro and thus to the uninitiated reader too. Kids from eighteen to eighty will love "President of the Anime Club".

MARVELOUS 2 IN 1
Marvel Dimensions: A Graphic Novel

Marvel Dimensions is basically two books in one. The first half of the book is a fantastic retrospective celebrating many of the Silver Age and Golden Age characters. Each two page spread introduces the character as described by another character. The monochromatic panels are painted in an artistic style that resembles that of the original era. Each section bursts into color in the last panel with the iconic logo for the character. But half way through the book, another retro character, the mechanical man Watcher introduces the Inverse World and the book then tells a complete story about this world where the people are polar opposite from those we know and they are power hungry rulers instead. The retrospective is fantastic and can be be enjoyed by Marvel enthusiasts with encyclopedic Marvel lore. It also serves as a great source for those who primarily know the MCU and know little of the comic book timelines. With both types of Marvel fans in my household, this one gets our recommendation for either type of fan.
