Storybook Lady Review

I love Sammy Spider! I have been a fan of the series since my own children were little and now I am sharing it with my grandchild. Silly Little Sammy longs to celebrate Jewish holidays with the Shapiro family. In this newest book, the family puts up a Jewish calendar and author Sylvia Rouse has spun another cute book. She takes readers through the whole year as Sammy celebrates the holidays. Where as the 2014ย Sammy Spider’s First Book of Jewish Holidaysย shares holidays with the very young child, this new book is for older youngsters. This one is more than just a picture and one sentence. Each holiday has a two page spread with pictures from the Sammy Spider illustrator Katherine Janus Kahn. One page has an inset with information about the holiday and the facing page has a short Sammy story. Each time, kids will enjoy chanting the familiar refrain “Silly Sammy, spiders don’t celebrate (the holiday), Spiders spin webs!” This is one anthology that any young Jewish family will want to add to their home library.
